RE: [iaik-jce]

Hello Ravi,

I signed applets in Netscape and Explorer using a pkcs12 file created with I
AIK-JCE toolkit.

For general information of sign applets :

http://www.suitable.com/CodeSigningOverview.shtml

You can sign applets for Netscape or IE separately, or use Java Plug In and
create one signed applet for these browsers.

To sign applets for Netscape you must use the Netscape Capabilities Classes
and Netscape Signing Tool, see :

http://developer.netscape.com:80/docs/manuals/signedobj/overview.html

You have to import the pkcs12 file into Netscape Certificates Database befor
e sign the applet with signtool.
The applet must use the Netscape Capabilities Classes to request permissions
of any kind to the browser.

To sign applets for IE, you must use The Microsoft SDK for Java for create a
.cab file (similar to jar) and sign with
tools included in this package. Visit www.microsoft.com to obtain it.

Regards,

Jacobo

Hello,
I want to create signed Applet using privatekey inside a .p12 file. I am
able to sign any file using keystore and also using p12 file.
Browsers (IE, Netscape) treat signing differently. What exactly has to be
done to sign an applet using privatekey from keystore/ from a p12 file and
view it in IE and Netscape. Any plug-ins work ??
