[iaik-ssl] Timout in ssl connection?

Is there a timeout in the SSL-Layer?
We send a large File via https and want to wait for the response.
The response should arrive about 4 hours later.
I never received a response :-(

The error messages are:
org.w3c.www.protocol.http.HttpException: Unable to contact target server
newsletter.db24.de:443 after 3 tries.

We use a Sun Solaris machine.

If there is a timout: How can I set it to "infinite"?
