This works only if the proxy does not want authentication credentials, or 
you set them statically as a Base64 encoded HTTP-Header.

Try to examine the W3C classes coming with Jigsaw, they've written a 
complete HTTP wrapper, both for servers and clients. If you respect the 
copyrights, you can use it without changes. You can even modify the code if 
you want.
